The Cuivre State Park could only have been enhanced by Ranger David, whom we met while he was having supper in Troy. Kind Ranger David went the extra 7.2 miles in the dark as he led these weary travellers right to our beautiful, spacious campsite! Thank you, Ranger David!

Hiking is great. Bugs were terrible. And the beach (if you can call it that) is not very nice.

The full hookup sites are in a separate area of the park, and the sites are somewhat less private than the other areas. If you are a solitary type looking to get away for some peace and quiet, try to stay in the basic or electric only campsites. These are more secluded in general, and have more shade in most cases.

Lake Lincoln is absolutely gorgeous. I kayaked on the lake, which is approximately 70 acres, and had a wonderful time. I had my own kayak, but if you would like, you can rent kayaks or canoes at the park office. There is also a well kept swimming beach at one end of the lake, with restrooms available. If you have time, check out the hiking trail around the lake, but be warned that it is somewhat rugged in places, but certainly not a technically challenging trail for a capable beginner.

We absolutely love this park it is magnificent and big you cannot explore the park in a weekend the camping is good the swimming lakes are good there are horseback riding trails biking trails hiking trails everything you could want or need out of a park the Bluffs Trail is Simply Beautiful to behold we go there all the time and will continue to go there great place

Lovely park not too far away from Saint Louis, but far enough to be "out there." It's a beautiful park. The campgrounds are neat and the facilities kept clean and stocked. Plenty to do. Rent kayaks and canoes, hike the lakeside trail, or visit the picnic areas. Group and equestrian camping available. A great go to for a quick weekend away.

Camped here first weekend of August 2017. I have a 23 foot travel trailer and was in site 94 in the full hookup area.

First, the site was quite level, and required only minimum work with the tongue jack to level my trailer adequately. The electric, water and sewer hookups were close enough to reach easily without having to use extensions. The sewer outlet on the full hookup sites is a little high off the ground, making it difficult to drain adequately. Bring a sewer hose support system, or leave your tank valves closed until it's time to dump, so you can "help" the hose drain by lifting it.
