They tell you "if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time". What a joke! You can email and call and it will take literally months before they respond to only 1 part of your question. Once the check was paid I never heard or saw Adam Blanchard again, despite his promises of showing up when you arrive, walking through the unit with you, calling to check and make sure things are correct. The manager Tim Donaldson is just as bad. We actually had to threaten legal action when he started calling my aunt and then hanging up, as well as leaving 4.5 minute weird music on the voice mail--(we saved the caller ID and voice mail as proof).
Sub floor improperly installed and coming up through the vinyl flooring, paint splattered on walls, ceiling fixtures. They laid the vinyl flooring over loose nails and screws. My aunt had to clean construction debris--sawdust, wood chips, glue, etc... for 4 days before I arrived and could move in. They charged me for things that I never got, and then refused to refund the money---handicap doors, stairs to the front door.
Excellent customer service. Nice clean display homes. Would highly recommend!
Worst experience of my life! Avoid Clayton Homes at all costs! It took them 63 days after the house was delivered to hook the home up so that I could take a shower or cook. Tim Donaldson, the manager kept telling me "it's top priority, the top of the list. I'll get someone out there right away to hook everything up". It took them 87 days to give me a refrigerator that worked! I don't know what I would have done if I had, had children here in the house.
They advertise their homes as energy efficient, but I discovered that they do not insulate around any of the doors or windows. Literally, the only thing keeping out cold winter air is a 1/16" thin X 1" wide strip of cardboard/fake wood trim. Remove it, and you can look right outside!

They had a too small diameter water line installed, so now there is just a trickle of water out of the shower head and sinks and they refuse to take responsibility.
The AC/Furnace is placed in the wrong location---at one end of the home, so the Master bedroom and bath get almost no air at all. My razor froze to the shower shelf. You freeze in the winter and roast all summer. The furnace/AC is cheap, made in Mexico and requires a filter that CAN NOT be bought anywhere in the world! You have to buy two standard filters and then tear them apart and modify them to make it fit.
When I went in to order my home and choose the cabinets, flooring etc....they handed me a bunch of samples to choose from, then 7 days after I picked everything out and put down a deposit, Adam Blanchard emailed to tell me that nothing I picked out was available and that they didn't have any samples, but I could look at a couple of tiny photos that looked like they had been scanned multiple times, and for the flooring I would just have to trust them.
Nicely laid out homes, most with running a/c. Price information posted inside each unit. Our advisor, Adam, is very knowledgeable and helped answer the million questions we had. When you factor in the service and extras that Clayton Homes includes in their price against the so called budget and discount dealers, you will find you will actually SAVE money by going with Clayton Homes! They not only offer better value, they will help walk you through land purchase, site prep, delivery and set-up, and utility hook-ups. Clayton Homes and Adam will have my business for the long term!
Go to their Facebook page and look over the reviews---All of the positive 5 star reviews are from their employees or their spouses!! The entire business is a scam! They will smile at your face, promise you the world and then screw you over without even blinking! Worst mistake of my life!
The windows they installed are worthless and poorly designed. If you have a nice day and want to open the windows, they allow mosquitoes and flies free access into the home. They then blamed me stating that if I had put this home somewhere else, that I wouldn't have the problem! Really? You mean there are areas that don't have flies or mosquitoes? Where?
My wife and I bought our first home from Clayton Homes and from the very beginning they were professional and friendly throughout the whole process, we would recommend them to anyone!
